An AirPod not working? Here’s how to fix your Apple earphones

AirPods can be extremely convenient, except when a headset mysteriously stops working. There is a simple solution for this problem that should get your earbuds working normally in seconds. The steps are the same whether you own the original AirPods, the AirPods 2, the new AirPods 3, or the noise-canceling AirPods Pro.

If you’re having trouble with your AirPods, it’s also a good idea to make sure your iPhone’s Bluetooth is turned on. To do this, swipe down from the top right corner of the screen to launch Control Center. Then, make sure the circle with the Bluetooth symbol is blue. If not, tap it to turn on Bluetooth.

You can also check if your iPhone’s software is up to date to mitigate any issues you may be experiencing with your AirPods. Software updates usually bring security fixes and sometimes add new features to your AirPods too, so that’s a good idea regardless. Start Settings touch General and select Software update .

How to fix an AirPod that’s not working?

1 . Put both AirPods back into the case and make sure they’re charging. Let them charge for 30 seconds.

2 . Open the case lid near your iPhone or iPad and wait for them to appear on the screen.

3 . Put both AirPods in your ears and try playing music or a video to make sure the audio is working.

How to reset your AirPods

1 . To get started, make sure your AirPods are in their charging case with the lid closed.

2 . After 30 seconds, open the lid to connect your AirPods to your iPhone or iPad. Launch the menu Settings on your mobile device and tap Bluetooth .

Open the Bluetooth section in your iPhone’s Settings menu.

3 . Find your AirPods in the list of Bluetooth devices and tap the symbol the next to it.

You can tap the i symbol to get more information about your AirPods or to reset them.

4 . You choose Forget this device . You may have to scroll down to find this option.

Tap Forget This Device to reset your AirPods.

5 . Once you’ve forgotten your AirPods, open the lid of the charging case and hold the button on the back for about 15 seconds . The light on the front should blinking white .

6 . Now, keep your AirPods in the charging case with the lid open close to your iPhone or iPad. You should see on-screen instructions to pair them again, just like the first time you set them up.

Resetting the AirPods usually solves this problem. But if you’re still having trouble with one or both of your AirPods, make sure there’s no debris obstructing the speaker mesh.
