Animal Crossing: New Horizons big update 2.0 is out now, and along with the patch, Nintendo has released a paid DLC expansion for the game called Happy Home Paradise.
Much like the game Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer for Nintendo 3DS, this expansion is about designing dream vacation homes and other facilities for various characters. Here is a rundown on the price of the DLC and how to access it.
How to Download Happy Home Paradise
The Happy Home Paradise DLC is not included in the free New Horizons 2.0 update; you will need to download it separately from Nintendo eShop. You can purchase the expansion directly from New Horizons product page for $ 25. Note that you must have the Animal Crossing: New Horizons base game to purchase the Happy Home Paradise DLC.
If you have a, you also have the option to download the Happy Home Paradise DLC for free. However, you will lose access to the DLC if your subscription expires. An individual subscription to the Expansion Pack costs $ 50 per year, while an annual subscription to the Family Plan, which covers up to eight accounts across multiple systems, costs $ 80. In addition to Happy Home Paradise, the Expansion Pack plan offers subscribers the access to a library of classic games for Nintendo 64 and Sega Genesis.
How to access the contents of Happy Home Paradise
After downloading and installing the Happy Home Paradise DLC, you will receive a call from Tom Nook when New Horizons starts. Nook will then introduce you to Lottie, the leader of the Paradise Planning committee you will be working for as part of the DLC.
To work for Lottie and access the expansion, you’ll need to speak to Orville at the airport and select I want to go to work from its list of options. From there, you’ll take a short plane trip to the Paradise Planning headquarters, where you can do work designing dream vacation homes for various clients. Whenever you start the game, you will first need to speak to Orville and select this option to access Happy Home Paradise.
After successfully completing a job, you will earn Poki, a new type of currency exclusive to Happy Home Paradise. With Poki, you can buy brand new furniture and other items that are not available in the base game and bring them back to your island.
The free 2.0 version of New Horizons also introduced a wide range of new content to the game, includingi , cooking and more. Also a new series of from was offered for sale at retailers.
