Don’t take it personally, but Google doesn’t want to talk to you. Part of it is that they would be absurdly busy if they ran an employee-dependent customer service call center, as hundreds of millions of people use some form of Google every day.

The other thing is that Google values ​​your security and doesn’t want to put you at risk of an attack by handling things like resetting your password or resetting your account over the phone.

So how do you contact Google? Here are some options.

How to contact Google by phone

You can call Google customer support at 650-253-0000 . The number leads to an operator service called “the Googleplex” which is based at Google’s headquarters in Mountain View, California.

Calling the number will take you to an automatic menu which will take you to a number of other menus. Most of the time, the end result of your call will be a recorded voice telling you which web page to visit to try and fix the problem. In some cases, you may be connected to a human customer service representative.

The Googleplex service has its business hours listed Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm PST. If you call outside these hours, you will simply be directed through the menus by a recorded voice and will not be able to reach a human representative.

How to get help from Google Support online

With most of the problems encountered while using Google, whether it’s a problem with Gmail, the Google Chrome browser, or Google Maps, it’s likely that other people have encountered and documented the same problems a dozen times.

Google staff write tutorials on how to deal with common problems, and there are also user forums that address a myriad of problems. Here’s how to find the first one.

1. Log into your Google account, then go to support.google.com .

2. You will see a search bar where you can type your problem above nine icons displayed in the center of the screen.

3. If you have a problem with one of these specific products, such as Google Chrome or YouTube, click on the icon. If not, briefly describe the problem in the search bar. (And note that you can click the little blue arrow below the nine icons to see dozens of other, more specific icons.)

4. The page following each icon will list many of the most common problems users encounter, so look for your problem there.

How to use the Google Community Help Forums

If you can’t find the help you need from content posted by Google, consider sifting through or asking its forums.

1. On the page support.google.com select the icon of the Google product or service in question and click on it.

2. On the next page, at the top left of the screen, click on the word Community .

2. There will be multiple categories with many answered questions displayed on the Community page; search for answers or type a question in the search bar automatically filled with Describe your problem in the center of the page.

3. In the box at the bottom of the section Featured post on the Community page, you can click on the blue words Ask now to ask the community a question.
