Ewan McGregor’s much-acclaimed return as Obi-Wan has seen his first look, with the first trailer for Obi-Wan Kenobi which has finally come out after a nice tweet from the show’s official Twitter account that teases something on the horizon.
Originally, the Internet was convinced that the Jedi Order’s most prolific user would make his long-awaited return as part of a trailer at last month’s Super Bowl. Frustratingly, the sporting event has come and gone without a whisper of the emergence of the warrior turned hermit, leaving fans spinning their thumbs once again. The wait, however, is finally over.
Ewan McGregor returns as Obi-Wan, while Hayden Christensen returns as the evil Anakin Skywalker / Darth Vader. A smörgåsbord of other actors has signed on to the series in unnamed roles, including Kumail Nanjiani of Eternals.
Owen and Beru Lars were also cast for the series, with Joel Edgerton and Bonnie Piesse reprising both roles, respectively.
Directed by Deborah Chow, whose previous credits include Mr. Robot And The Mandalorian , Obi-Wan Kenobi is set 10 years after the events of Revenge of the Sith in the aftermath of Order 66 and the fall of the Jedi. Joby Harold has been confirmed as a screenwriter on the series, having previously executive produced Edge of Tomorrow .
As for the overall plot, the trailer doesn’t let the veil slip too far in that regard, though fans can rest assured, at least, that a spectacular rematch between the Jedi Master and Padawan is guaranteed.
Obi-Wan Kenobi will premiere on May 25, exclusively on Disney Plus.
