How to change your Amazon account password

Amazon makes it extremely easy to change your account password. You can do this from both the Amazon site and the mobile app. We will show you the steps for both of these devices.

Change your account password on the Amazon website

On a Windows, Mac, Linux, or Chromebook computer, use the Amazon website to change your account password. If you haven’t decided on a password yet, check out our guide on how to create and remember strong passwords.

To get started, open a web browser on your computer and launch the site Amazon. Log into your account if you are not already.

In the upper right corner of the Amazon site, click on the “Accounts & Lists” option.

On the “Your account” page that opens, select “Login and security”.

Amazon may ask you to enter your current account password. In this case, click on the “Password” field, type in your password and click on “Login”.

You are now on the “Login and Security” page. Here, next to “Password”, click “Change”.

You will see a “Change Password” page. Here, click on the “Current Password” field and type in your current Amazon account password. Then click on the “New password” field and type in the new password you wish to use for your account. Click on the “Reenter New Password” field and type in the new password again.

Finally, under the “Re-enter new password” field, click the “Save changes” button.

And your Amazon account now uses the password you just entered! If you’re protecting accounts, don’t forget that it’s also easy to change your Gmail password.

Change your account password in the Amazon mobile app

If you’re shopping on your iPhone, iPad, or Android phone, use the Amazon app to change your account password.

How to change your Amazon account password

You will see a “Hello” screen. Here, at the top, tap “Your Account”.

On the “Your account” page, from the “Account settings” section, select “Login and security”.

Select "Access and security" from section "Account settings" on the page "Your account" in the Amazon app.

Amazon may ask you to type in your current password. Enter your password and continue.

On the “Login and security” screen that opens, next to “Password”, tap “Edit”.

Touch "Edit" next to "Password" on the page "Access and security" in the Amazon app.

You will now see a “Change Password” screen. Here, tap on the “Current Password” field and enter your current account password. Tap the “New password” field and type in a new password for your account.

Finally, at the bottom of the “Change password” section, tap “Save changes”.

And your Amazon account password is now updated!

Aside from changing your password, there are a few other things you can do to protect your Amazon account.
