If you run an ecommerce site, you need a customer support team. And if you run an online shopping giant like eBay, you need one great customer support team.

Fortunately, this is what eBay has. There are a variety of ways to contact eBay’s customer service team, along with a library of articles that can likely help you with whatever problem you’re having. And if you’ve been the victim of an eBay scam, there’s even a dedicated phone number you can call for assistance.

Here’s how to contact eBay online or by phone.

How to contact eBay customer service via the help portal

The best way to contact eBay, and the company’s preferred method, is online, via the Help and Contact page. You can find this page by clicking the link to it at the top or bottom of almost any eBay page. In the eBay app, you can also tap My eBay at the bottom of the screen, then select Help in the displayed menu.

Once on this page, you will see a myriad of different sections, links and questions. You can click on any of these to open helpful articles eBay has written about solving most basic problems. Alternatively, in You need help with your recent orders you can click on an item you recently bought or sold to see all possible customer service options related to it.

If none of these options help, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click Contact us . You will be given a list of categories – choose the one that matches your problem.

Once you have chosen a category, some support articles will be suggested that may match the problem. But if they don’t help, click Chat with our auto attendant on the left side of the page.

This will open a chat window where you can talk to an AI about your problem and it will offer you help articles that match what you say.

If you keep telling him you need more help, however, he may offer you the option Contact an agent. When it does, click on this option and provide your phone number. A real eBay customer service agent will take your request and call you, usually within half an hour.

Unfortunately, this is the only way to talk to someone on the phone about your eBay issues.

If you just want to chat with an eBay rep and don’t mind waiting a while, check out the Twitter account Ask eBay . Send them a direct message with your basic account details (name, email, phone number) and they may be able to solve your problems.

You can also take a look at the eBay community forum , where regular users chat and troubleshoot problems they encounter. The posters here generally don’t work for eBay, but there are thousands of different threads and comments, so there’s a good chance someone else has encountered and solved the same problem as you before.
