Video has become a major feature on Twitter, with casual users and big brands uploading clips on a regular basis. Watching and sharing videos on Twitter is easy enough, but saving them to your computer, smartphone or tablet is impossible on the platform, so users are forced to find alternative methods to download their favorite Twitter clips.

These steps apply to all platforms and all devices.

How to download Twitter videos to your computer

Downloading Twitter videos to a computer is by far the easiest method and does not require the installation of any additional software.

  1. Open a web browser of your choice and go to Twitter.com . It is not necessary to login.

  2. Find the tweet with the video you want to save.

  3. Right-click on the tweet date; this is the permalink.

  4. A menu will appear. Select Copy link address . The tweet’s web address will now be saved to your computer’s clipboard.

  5. Go up DownloadTwitterVideo.com .

  6. In the website field, paste the tweet’s web address by right-clicking and selecting Paste or press Ctrl + V on Windows, Command + V on Mac ..

  2. Open the official Twitter app on your Android device and search for the tweet containing the video you want to share.

    You can also copy the Twitter video link from a browser; the official app is not required.

  3. Once found, tap the share button below the video, then choose Share Tweet via .

  4. The + Download app will appear in the list of apps you can share the video with. Touch + download from the list of apps you can share the link with. The video will be downloaded automatically.

    If the video download doesn’t start automatically, tap the download button. You may also need to authorize it to store videos on your device; select Allow if requested.

How to Download Twitter Videos to iPhone and iPad

IPhone and iPad owners have to do a little more work than Android owners to save videos from Twitter, and it can also be more complicated and time-consuming.

  1. Download the free MyMedia app on your iPhone or iPad.

  2. Open the official Twitter app and search for the tweet containing the video you want to save.

    You can also copy the Twitter video link from a browser; the official app is not required.

  3. Tap the tweet so that the text and video fill the entire screen. Be careful not to touch any links or hashtags in the tweet.

  4. Below the tweet, next to the heart icon, will be another icon that looks like an arrow coming out of a box. Touch it.

  5. Touch Share Tweet via .

  6. Touch Copy link. The tweet URL will now be saved to the device clipboard.

  7. Close the Twitter app and open the MyMedia app.

  8. Touch Browser from the menu below.

  9. In the field at the top of the app, type www.TWDown.net and touch Go . This essentially loads a website within the MyMedia app.

  10. Scroll down the webpage until you see a field that says Enter Video . Tap this field so that the slider appears, then tap and hold your finger briefly on it and release to bring up the option Paste .

  11. Touch Paste to paste the web address of the tweet into the field.

  12. Tap the button Download next to the field.

  13. The webpage will reload and provide you with several download links for your video in a variety of sizes and resolutions. Tap the one you want to download.

  14. As soon as you tap a download link, a menu will appear. Touch Download the file then type a name for the saved video.

  15. In the bottom menu, tap Average . You should see your video saved on this screen.

  16. Tap the file name of your video.

  17. A new menu will appear with a list of options. Touch Save to roll to save a copy of your Twitter video to the Camera Roll folder on your iOS device. You can now open it in other apps just like you would if you made the video yourself.
