Although the practice is a common courtesy, eBay sellers are not required to send tracking information to their buyers.
Sellers need to indicate the number of days it will take to process an order and you know in advance which shipping service they will use and the likely number of days it will take to ship, but sometimes all you can hope for is a window of time in which you expect your order to arrive.
In most cases, however, eBay sellers proactively provide tracking information that makes it easy to track your order from shipping, to delivery, and right to your door.
Here’s how to track eBay shipments for which tracking has been provided.
How to track an eBay order
1. Log into your eBay account and hover over “My eBay” in the top right corner of the home page, then click “Purchase History” from the menu.
2. Find the item you want to track and note that its shipping status is usually displayed next to the image, such as “This item has been shipped” or “Delivered on …”
3. For more details, click on the tracking number displayed or click on the “More Actions” link and select “View Order Details”.
On this page you can contact the seller of your item if you would like more tracking information or if it hasn’t arrived yet.
If you click “+ Show Shipping Details” you will also be able to see a more detailed breakdown of your package’s tracking from shipment to successful delivery.
