MCU’s Secret Wars will be the end of phase 4

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has grown at an incredible rate since the sacred timeline was freed by Loki and Sylvie at the end of Loki. Things escalated quickly and we were introduced to a ton of new characters. Eternals showed us the celestial part of the MCU that had been kept undercover until now. There was also Shang-Chi who introduced us to the mystical kingdom of Ta Lo and the beasts that resided there.

Spiderman too No Way Home did its part of the work by bringing back Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. What is the reason for this sudden influx of characters? Well, we think it’s because Secret Wars will be the end of Phase 4.

MCU's Secret Wars will be the end of phase 4

Secret Wars is a very famous and recurring event in the Marvel multiverse where heroes and villains from different universes and different planets compete with each other for the amusement of an omnipotent being. The first version of this story showed the Grand Master capturing heroes and making them fight each other Sakaar in a tournament. This story was reminiscent of tournament arches in anime. But then the concept evolved and Secret Wars became an excuse for Marvel to have their main heroes beat each other up. One such Secret Wars took place on Battleworld under the rule of God Doom. God Doom was a Marvel comic book character who was born when Viktor Von Doom took control of The Beyonder’s powers.

The story we’re talking about got a big advance where we saw Dr. Doom visit different realities trying to find a way to make sure the multiverse doesn’t collapse in on itself. The Battleworld created by Doom was a mash-up of different realities. These realities were forbidden to interact with each other, and Doom’s henchmen patrolled the borders. We think the MCU is heading towards a similar fate in phase 4. Starting with Multiverse of Madness we are about to see many more new realities than we expected.

The second trailer of the film shows several instances where Strange is traveling or being taken from one universe to another. We think he will spend time in each of these realities, he will navigate them with the help of Chavez and try to muster enough strength to oppose the Illuminati. But we also think his actions will have dire consequences and Strange will have no choice but to unite all the fragmented realities so that they support each other and don’t implode. He could be manipulated to do so by Kang, who will then take over.

But his actions will lead to Secret Wars in the MCU. With the formation of Battleworld, all Marvel IPs will become fair game and could therefore easily be included in the MCU. This would allow Marvel Studios to use comic book characters more efficiently and integrate them seamlessly with older franchises. For example, it will become very easy to introduce old and new mutants. We could also reunite Magneto and Charles Xavier (who has already appeared in Multiverse of Madness) .

The consequences

It would be nice to see Doctor Strange pay for his shares. The character has been rampant in the MCU. He has broken every law of the natural world just to make sure that his race of him is not uprooted by the natural flow of creation. The man explored 14 million realities to make sure they won against Thanos. He is desperate to survive and that’s exactly how the supervillains take over. It will be interesting to see how he justifies the creation of the battle world and the delivery of the keys to Kang.

MCU's Secret Wars will be the end of phase 4

The character has been a fan favorite until now and if the studio chooses to turn him into a villain he will be able to confuse audiences and increase content engagement. It would be a subversion of expectations of colossal proportions. We think Secret Wars will be the end of Phase 4 and everything in Phase 5 will involve the Battle of Kang. Let us know what you think in the comments and keep watching this space for everything related to Marvel, DC and Hollywood. Excellent!!!
