Spider-Woman and another Venom movie will be released after Kraven in 2023
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is definitely one of the most successful superhero franchises we’ve seen. Success must surely follow the massive way the franchise has continued to expand. There are various projects that are ready to come out in the next few years and we can’t wait for them to arrive.
But it looks like Sony’s universe of Spider-Man characters isn’t stopping either. There are various projects that are ready to roll out in this universe and there are certainly more to come. Sony is working on expanding its superhero movie set. They recently announced two new untitled projects as part of the universe.
This could clearly give projects like Spider-Woman and other Spider-Man-based characters a chance.
Venom: Let There Be Carnage has seen a huge hit in the world of Sony films surrounding the Spider-Man character. It was the second film in the series and proved to be a box office success considering its release just after the pandemic period.
It ended up being one of the highest-grossing opening weekends of any film in the era of the pandemic. The post-credit scene was a major player behind this success considering he left us wondering what to expect from the franchise.
This scene ended up landing Venom in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and thus giving the character a chance to appear in the next. Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Seeing the opportunity for this character to appear in a movie that should already feature some of the biggest names in Spider-Man history is absolutely thrilling. The film is also expected to include Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield who played Spider-Man in previous portrayals of Sony’s character.
But that’s not the end of Sony’s Spider-Man universe considering they have more features coming out set in the Venomverse. We expect to see Morbius And Kraven The Hunter from the studio.
While the latter is in pre-production with a release date set for January 13, 2023, Morbius it will be released early next year after facing various delays due to the pandemic.
Additional release dates
Aaron Couch of The Hollywood Reporter has revealed on Twitter that there are two other Marvel titles that Sony has added to its release schedule. Even after these projects, Sony has set two more dates for films focusing on Spider-Man-related characters.
These projects are so far untitled although the dates have been set for June 23 and October 6, 2023. There are various possible film projects that could be associated with these release dates.
Right after the announcement of this project, fans got their fingers up Spider-Woman. Director Olivia Wilde has been selected to direct a female-focused solo film set in this universe. No confirmation was given for this project, but everyone quickly expected the story to center around Spider-Woman.
The film could introduce us to Jessica Drew. This isn’t the first female-centric role considering SJ Clarkson has been cast to direct a Madame Web .
There is also the possibility that one of these dates could be for Venom 3 after the success of Venom: Let There Be Carnage. The film received mixed reviews, but fans seem to have enjoyed the film making it a hit with audiences. We also got to see some possible clues as to what the future might hold for the characters in terms of evil symbionts that will appear.
But there is also the possibility that we could get an entirely new movie that will explore Tom Holland’s Spider-Man narrative in the Sony Spiderverse.
By then we would have established three main archenemies of the web crawler and it would be quite interesting to see how the character will be explored in the future after his departure from the MCU.
At the same time, the release dates could simply be associated with some other villain history like the Sinister Six that could be established in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Jackpot is another interesting property that was first announced under development in 2018.
Comic book writer Jackpot was actually working on the script for the film in 2018.
