TripAdvisor: how to add a hotel review

Adding a hotel review to TripAdvisor is an easy task. After you’ve returned from your trip and have an opinion to share, here’s how you can share it with the world.

First you need to register in order to submit your review and publish it on the site. You can register before or after writing your review.

  1. To register, click the Join link in the top navigation bar.

    If you’ve already created a Facebook account, you can log in to TripAdvisor using your Facebook login details. This method is safe and the easiest way to participate. To join via Facebook Connect (a service that minimizes login information and passwords), click the Facebook button in the top navigation bar. If you are not currently logged in to Facebook, you may need to log in at this point.

    If you haven’t created a Facebook account, you can create a TripAdvisor account by providing your email address and choosing a password. Choose a username and password and tell the site which city you live in. Then click Sign up and you are a member!

  2. Find the page of the property you want to review on TripAdvisor by searching for the hotel name and city.

    When the results are displayed, click on the link for the hotel you want to review. Then follow the rest of the steps given here as you write a review.

  3. Choose one of the two points to click to access the form Write a review .

  4. Click the top navigation bar or the area on the right with user ratings. Clicking on either of them takes you to a form like the one shown.

  5. The property name will already be at the top of the page, and the first thing to do is fill out the overall rating from one to five bullet points. Now it’s time to write your review.

  6. Type a title that describes the hotel in one sentence. In the Your Review text box, type your comments.

    Tell us what you liked and what you didn’t like about your stay. (Your review must be at least 200 characters long.)

  7. What kind of trip was this on? in the geographical area, select the option that best describes the reason for your trip, from work to solo.

    When did you travel? The section asks you to restrict your travel dates to the month and year of your visit.

  8. The Could You Say More About It section is an optional part of the review that allows you to assign specific ratings to several important factors, including service, value, and cleanliness.

    This section is an important stop if you have found some parts of the hotel to your liking while others were missing. There is also a text box where you can add a tip on the best rooms on the property.

  9. Optionally upload a photo.

    If you have taken a photo of the hotel or property you want to share, click the button Browse and upload it from your computer. You must also check the box indicating that the photo is yours and that you are not infringing anyone’s rights by publishing it.

  10. Because TripAdvisor takes reviews very seriously, you need to check the box next to the statement that ensures:

    “I certify that this review represents my experience and represents my sincere opinion of this hotel and that I have no personal or corporate affiliation with this property and that I have not been offered any incentives or payments from the property to write this review. “

  11. When you’re happy with your work, click Submit your review.

    After you submit your review, it will appear on your profile, marked as pending. All reviews are checked prior to publication; it usually takes a few days for them to appear. When your review is published, you will receive a confirmation email. If TripAdvisor chooses not to post your review, the site will send you an email and let you know why.
