While exploring the vast and dynamic worlds of the Minecraft 1.18 update, players may come across several creatures in the game, called mobs. The mobs can range from animals such as cows to villagers and skeletons. Each mob in Minecraft falls into a specific category. For example, the dragon Ender is a mob boss, a sheep is a passive mob, and a creeper is a hostile mob.
Squid is a passive mob in Minecraft that can be found in rivers and oceans in groups of one to three. They wander aimlessly in the water and travel in three directions. squid have no skills or traits. They do not attack the player, even if the player is attacking him. This article talks about a variant of the squid, called the glowing squid, and its status after the Minecraft 1.18 update.
Glowing Squid in Minecraft 1.18 – Everything Players Need to Know
Glowing squid is one of the many water mobs in Minecraft. As mentioned above, they are passive and have no unique abilities. However, unlike regular squid, bright squid are found in dark underwater areas, which mainly exist in deep underwater cave systems. They can also be identified using their luminescent aqua color and texture. Luminous squid make a unique pearly sound when they move and emit crystalline particles as they swim.
Since Minecraft 1.18, glowing squid spawns in groups of two to four below level Y 30, usually in total darkness, which is the same for axolotls. They appear to glow, but they do not contribute in any way to the light levels of the surrounding area, as they do not produce light. If the bright squid and axolotls spawn in the same area, the latter takes over in combat as the axolotls can attack the bright squid, but not the other way around. Additionally, children’s versions of the glowing squid have a 5% chance to spawn and are exclusive to Minecraft Bedrock Edition.
Glowing squid can release one to three pouches of fluorescent ink when killed. If a player uses the Loot spell to kill them, increase the maximum amount of Fluorescent Ink Drops from three to six. Killing a glowing squid drops one to three experience points.
Like regular squid, bright squid also wander aimlessly in the water and travel in three directions. They can choke to death if pushed out of the water, with only 15 seconds or 300 game ticks to live on after breaking the surface of the water. When attacked, glowing squid stops glowing for five seconds or 100 ticks in game. Additionally, they can be attacked by guardians or senior guardians in a similar way to how they attack two players.
Glowing squid is one of the newest mobs in Minecraft, having been added to Minecraft 1.17. Their good looks and ethereal glow give a unique twist to the game and this results in a much needed expansion and change to their spawn locations in Minecraft 1.18.
